MJK 7030 is a float switch, that can be used to measure the level of water. In general, float switches in stormwater systems offer several benefits:

  • Overflow Prevention: Float switches detect rising water levels, triggering pumps or alarms to prevent flooding and property damage.
  • Automated Operation: They enable automated control of pumps, optimizing drainage efficiency and reducing manual intervention.
  • Early Warning System: Float switches provide early warnings of potential flooding events, allowing for timely response and mitigation measures.

Connecting a MJK 7030 float switch via. Generic GPIO Expansion Board

To connect a MJK 7030 float switch to a Consibio Logger, you will need to use a Generic GPIO Expansion v1.0. This expansion can read float switch signals by wiring it up as follows:

  1. Open the Logger
  2. Check if the GPIO expansion is mounted in either Port A or Port B
  3. Pull the 3-core cable from the MJK 7030 through a cable gland
  4. Insert the grey wire into GND and the brown wire into IO25 on the terminal block in the GPIO expansion
  5. Ensure that all contacts on the GPIO expansion are set to "ON" by pushing all buttons to the right on the 4 small contacts marked with the numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4. This ensures that when the tilt ball floats, it will pull a "high" signal.
  6. Tighten the cable gland around the cable to prevent it from coming loose.

This configuration leverages the Logger's compatibility with GPIO signals and the versatility of its Generic GPIO Expansion Board, enabling seamless integration with industry-standard control outputs for efficient control and monitoring. 

  • Grey wire (#1) to GND
  • Brown wire (#3) to IO25
